  • New Delhi: The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) is working with the tax department and regulators to ease the rules and laws for startups to support budding entrepreneurs, a top government official said on Wednesday.
  • The government has established Rs 10,000 crore Fund of Funds for startups (FFS) to meet their needs.
  • Under the ‘Startup India Action Plan’, the government announced incentives, including tax holiday and inspector raj-free regime, besides capital gains tax exemption.

  • WhatsApp Vice President Chris Daniels on Wednesday said the company is focussed on values like security and privacy to ensure that its product remains a utility that helps users communicate in everyday life.
  • The partnership with Invest India will help WhatsApp in driving awareness about its business tools in around 15 states impacting over 60,000 businesses in the coming months through tools such as Startup India ‘Yatra’ programme and other in-person training events.

  • New Delhi: WhatsApp on Wednesday said that it had partnered with Invest India for a programme that focuses on the proliferation of start-ups, promoting economic growth and generating employment opportunities in India.
  • The Facebook Inc.-owned messaging service said that it would invest $250,000 as seed funding in the top five winners of the ‘WhatsApp StartUp Challenge’ and an additional $250,000 will be directed to a select few from the entrepreneurial community to promote their WhatsApp business number on Facebook and drive discovery of their businesses.
  • Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India and acts as the first point of reference for investors in India.

  • Singapore-based virtual reality startup HoloSuit has announced to have raised an undisclosed amount of funding from YWC sports which is a separate vertical under YWC ecommerce portal launched Yuvraj Singh as YouWeCan initiative to help cancer patients.
